Dear Participant,

in one week from today the conference is already running, and the first plenary lectures take place. In this context we would like to supply you with further important information:

Time zone

All times shown on the conference website are given in Central European Summer Time (CEST)

Discussion sessions for Oral and Poster Presentations

All presenting authors of oral lectures and poster presentations are requested to be available for discussion on their contribution in the discussion sessions on Wednesday afternoon. Every slot lasts 30 minutes and is intended for up to 6 contributions. To find out in which slot / at which time we have scheduled your contribution please take a look at the overview of discussions. The session is moderated by a chairperson, being accompanied by a technical support staff - and by an unknown number of participants with questions ...

Vote for student awards

As already announce earlier we are happy to give away 7 student awards for the best oral lectures and best poster flash talks. The jury to select the recipients of the awards are all registered participants. You may already have noticed the link "Vote for this contribution" below the presentation videos of oral lectures and poster talks. If you click on this link you can give 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 point(s) to this contribution, and in the final end the contribution with the most points will receive the award.

Please note that

  • oral lectures and poster presentations are considered separately (you can give 5 points to an oral lecture and you can give another 5 points to a poster presentation),
  • only students can receive an awards, so if you have finished your PhD, you are not eligible to be elected,
  • invited and plenary lectureres are also entitled to vote with a slightly higher weighting of their vote
  • you are not allowed to vote for a contribution, where any of the authors belongs to the same institution where you are currently employed - these votes will be invalidated during the final vote counting

Voting will be possible until Monday June 21, 09:00 CEST. The official award session will take place on Wednesday June 23, 16:00 CEST.

Social events

As you might know, we are organizing two online evening events to give you the possibility to socialize with your colleagues and friends. The events will take place on the 15th of June, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM CET, and on the 16th of June, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM CET.

The program for the social event includes an

  • exhibition area
  • private and group meeting areas
  • Beer Pub and Wine Lounge (You can guess what's the "dress code" and entrance conditions)
  • etc.

Details can be found here:
https://www.vesps2021.net/program/social-events

On the 16th of June, there is additionally the extended poster session with the possibility for detailed discussions.

To help us plan the event, we would highly appreciate it if you could take a second to answer this survey also in the case you do not intend to participate: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScvhE05B1t64Qib0Yqh480IkZHrDf1DXEeWp4pSOtX96JXpMQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

First poster files are online

In the last days we have received the first poster presentation files. These files are now also available to registered participants on the webpage of poster presentations, and are located below the link to the abstract.

If you upload your poster file on your personal contribution page it might take up to 6 hours until it is available on the conference webpage to the public.

Book of Abstracts available

The book of abstracts with all abstracts is now available for download. Just login to the website, and you will find a new menuitem in the news-section

Zoom as conference system

The whole conference will be carried out using Zoom as communication system. In short there will be one room all over the conference for general announcements and plenary lectures. There will be 2 different rooms for the invited lectures and 7 different rooms for the discussion slots. Detailed information with all links and guidelines will be available within the next days, i'm afraid this information would go beyond the content of this email.

Access to the restricted area of the webpage

As pointed out already in our last email you need to login to the webpage to get extended access to the content (videos, poster, voting, etc). You can request a login-link at any time here.

Finally

If you have questions or have problems to login or access the videos please do not hesitate to contact us by email, just reply to this email.

Sincerely,
 Heinz A. Krebs
