With deep regret, we say goodbye to

prof. Ewa Andrzejewska,

who passed away on 21st June 2019, a long-time employee of Poznań University of Technology,

a remarkable specialist for chemical sciences, developing a new research on light-activated polymerization processes induced.

During her work at the university she acted as a vice dean for teaching on the Faculty of Chemical Technology (1999-2005), Head of Division of Polymers (from 2008).

We say goodbye to a prominent scientist,
excellent, highly regarded by her colleagues and students,
educator and organizer of academic life,
awarded the Gold Cross of Merit,
Gold Medal for Long Service,
Medal of Comission of National Education.

With deep regret we would like to inform, that on 21st June 2019, prof. Ewa Andrzejewska passed away.

Professor Ewa Andrzejewska was associated with the Faculty of Chemistry of Poznań University of Technology since her studies, which she began in 1968. In 1976 she undertook a job as an assistant and later a senior assistant and an assistant professor.

In 1982 she got her doctorate on the Faculty of Chemistry UAM and in 1998 she was granted a habilitation by The Council of the Faculty of Chemical Technology of Poznań University of Technology. In January 2011 she was awarded the title of professor by the president of the Republic of Poland. A new research topic developed by her – light-activated processes of polymerization– enjoy great interest all over the world. She published over 100 scientific papers dedicated to this topic.

Besides the scientific work, prof. Ewa Andrzejewska was an accomplished educator and organizer. She was always one of the best teachers on our faculty.

During 1999-2005 she acted as a vice dean for teaching. She has been working for the University and the Faculty under numerous committees and academic organizations. From 2008 she was the head of the Department of Polymers. Thanks to her efforts a new laboratory with modern apparatus for investigating photopolymerization and properties of  polymers was created, while in 2018 the funds were raised for AFM microscopy lab. Prof. Andrzejewska has tutored 9 PhD students and many Master’s and Bachelor’s students.

Prof. Ewa Andrzejewska was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit, the Gold Medal for Long Service and the Medal of Comission of National Education.

With the death of of prof. Ewa Andrzejewska, the University and the Faculty have lost a dedicated, actively involved and well-liked researcher and educator.

Much to may regret I have to inform you that Ewa Andrzejewska obviously passed away in June last year. It is so sad !! I appreciated Ewa very much as a very friendly person, a good colleague and an excellent scientist. Of course, I know that she was ill for long time, but nevertheless she was too young to die. (Tom)

It is very very sad news while we are living sad days due to earthquake in Izmir. Ewa was very pretty woman when I met with her I just thought this. She was also excellent scientist. (Nergis)
